I am an American working in Maryland, although I still count myself as a Virginian. Previously, I worked in Switzerland. My educational background is in water resources systems engineering and statistics. Hiking and biking and are my main source of recreation. This blog contains some of my travel writings mixed in with other observations.
When I lived in Switzerland, I found my German class to be a source of humor, generally because of my own misunderstandings or misinterpretations. There is quite a difference between “The dog is in the kitchen” and “The dog is in the cake”, but they sound surprisingly similar in German.
Some of my code related to past and current research projects is available at GitHub or StackOverflow.
When I was young I was involved in the Boy Scouts, which has probably influenced my desire to go exploring. I am currently serving as a secretary for the District Committee.
